Spring Events
Mother's Day weekend the AMALAK ladies group puts on its annual flower and book sale. This is a very well-attended event and the prices are extremely reasonable. Make plans to arrive early for the best selections.
Not to be outdone, the Lions Club puts on a wonderful Father's Day breakfast at the Community Building.
Speaking of the Lions Club, they also have monthly Bingo games at the Community Building on the second Sunday of each month.
Summer Events
Big Smoke in Little Kalama happens at the end of June. Check out their website for more details: https://bigsmokeinlittlekalama.com/
In 2023, the City hosted its first 4th of July event "Kalama Summer Lights on the 4th" at the Westin Amphitheater in partnership with the Port of Kalama. The City hopes to continue this event each year.
Every July the town enjoys the Kalama Fair with Fair Princesses, Queen Coronation, and 4H activities. Don't forget to check out the Kalama Parade that weekend too!
In August, downtown Kalama is filled with antique cars for the Untouchables Car Show on the 3rd Sunday of the month. The all-city garage sale hosted by the Chamber of Commerce happens this weekend as well.
The Hawaiian Heritage Festival has become an exciting annual event at the waterfront area in August. This event was founded by Bill & Gloria Nahalea with the Pacific Ohana Foundation. It is their passion to share the Hawaiian culture and to emphasize Kalama's ties to its Hawaiian heritage.
Fall Events
Halloween in Kalama always has a fun and safe trick-or-treating event. The main street is closed down for a couple hours so the ghostly creatures, super heroes, and princesses can safely go from one business to another to receive their trick or treat!
Winter Events
Christmas arrives in Kalama around the first weekend in December. There are usually free photos with Santa for the kids and other activities to keep the kids busy. The Kalama Chamber sponsors a lighted parade and shopping event to promote business downtown.
On Christmas eve, Santa takes a ride on a fire engine through Kalama to collect food donations for local food banks.
